ARRIVAL

It goes without saying that this artwork was inspired by one of my favourite films of all time, Arrival – directed by Denis Villeneuve.

The purpose of this project was to really focus on showcasing scale and developing composition skills. I’ve gone through multiple iterations to achieve that, using invaluable feedback from friends and peers alike. Making this alien spaceship look inexplicably massive compared to its surroundings was the main goal.

Things such as birds, rocks, mountains, and clouds, seem insignificant compared to these eerie-looking, beautifully designed, God-like creations. The idea behind the ruined temple on site is that perhaps it used to be a place for people to worship these aliens thousands of years ago.

I hope I’ve done a bit of justice to the original film through the use of colour, light and perspective. Besides, the cinematography of the film is extraordinary – Bradford Young is a genius. This project was put together in Unreal Engine.
